SACRAMENTO, CA – BloodSource teams up with the Sacramento Kings to score big wins for patients in need and local armed services members at the Sacramento Kings Community Blood Drive on Monday, November 11, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Sleep Train Arena. All blood drive participants will receive two complimentary tickets to a Sacramento Kings game on either December 9 (Dallas Mavericks) or 11 (Utah Jazz).*
In honor of this Veterans Day community event, the Sacramento Kings will also pay it forward by matching each blood donation with a ticket to a member of the armed forces for Salute to Services Night (Sacramento Kings vs. Brooklyn Nets) on November 13.
Phil Horn, a vice president at the Kings organization who recently donated a kidney to his wife, Danea, states, "The need for blood - whether for surgery, organ and marrow transplants, accidents and more - is important and lifesaving to those in need. We are proud to support efforts that help patients, such as the Kings Community Blood Drive."
Blood donors get the opportunity to donate on the arena floor and will also receive a 20% discount offer good at regional Sacramento Kings Team Stores, a Jimboy's Taco coupon, and MyBloodSource Rewards. Throughout the day, participants will enjoy special appearances by mascots Slamson (Sacramento Kings) and Drippy the Blood Drop, Sacramento Kings Dancers, a Kings player and member of the Kings coaching staff will also make an appearance.
Individuals between the ages of 18 and 44 years old will also be able to join Be The Match – the national marrow registry – at no cost (fee-waived). Those with diverse heritage are especially needed to join Be the Match.
Blood drive participants should enter Sleep Train Arena off Truxel Road, Toll Plaza 9, and access the blood drive through the Security Entrance. (Look for blood drive signage.)

Donating blood is safe, easy and takes about an hour. Donors must weigh at least 110 pounds, be at least 17 years old (16 with a signed BloodSource parent consent form) and be generally healthy.
